Dr. Remco Stokman - Orthopedist
Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon
Remco Stokman, MD, is an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon, specialized in complex hip & knee (revision) arthroplasty next to orthopedic trauma. He is also well trained and experienced in a wide field of orthopedic and traumatic pathology. Dr Stokman is the Service Line Chief of orthopedics and trauma in the CMC. He is also one of the local course instructor of the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course which is held twice a year on Curacao.
After his training in Amsterdam the Netherlands, he did a fellowship hip and knee surgery in Antwerp, Belgium. His love for Curacao, her people and the challenging pathology here made him decide to continue his career on our beautiful Island. He has very close connections to many super-specialists in the Netherlands who are frequently consulted and occasionally visit when necessary.
Navin Ramrattan - Orthopedist
Navin Ramrattan, MD, is an orthopedic trauma surgeon and spine surgeon. After finishing his training as an orthopedic surgeon, he gained valuable experience in general orthopedics and orthopedic traumatology.
In addition, he has completed accredited and well-recognized fellowships in spinal surgery, going through intensive and specialized hands-on training programs with leading surgeons in the field of spinal surgery in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. His training has given him the proficiency to perform (complex) back and neck surgeries, treating all kinds of issues involving the nerves and/or the bones of the spine including degenerative spinal problems like disc herniations and narrowing of the spinal cord, spinal deformities like scoliosis and kyphosis, cancer related problems in the spine and traumatic spinal injuries (broken neck or back).
His network of spinal surgeons is extensive and extends to leading centers in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States.
After his fellowship training, Ramrattan lived and worked as an orthopedic surgeon / spine surgeon in the United Kingdom and Belgium. He has been in Curaçao since 2016. He enjoys his work at CMC because of culture and lovely people he meets every day. He also enjoys dealing with the challenging yet interesting pathologies and hopes to continue caring for his Curaçao patients for a long time to come.
Michiel Janssen - Orthopedist
Michiel MA Janssen, MD, PhD, is an Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon, specialized in complex hip & knee (revision) arthroplasty next to orthopaedic trauma. After his training in The Netherlands, he worked in South Africa and Australia before setteling in Curacao.
During a fellowhip in Cape Town he gained considerable expertise in the field of complex orthopaedic trauma. After this year he focus again on his other passion: hip & knee arthroplasty. For more than two years he was the Arthroplasty Fellow at the Flinders Medical Center, Adelaide, Australia. There he gained an extensive experience in the Direct Anterior Appoach of the hip, revision surgery and used the newest techniques including Robot Assisted surgery.
Passionate about anthropology and orthopaedics, he investigated the human spino-pelvic alignment which has resulted in several publications, numerous presentations at international conferences and a PhD.
