CMC restarts elective surgery and normal visitor hours

Willemstad, February 3rd, 2022 – Starting Monday, February 7th, Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) will restart elective surgeries for the 1,834 patients on the waiting list. The planning department will contact all patients to coordinate their surgery dates. These entail the postponed surgeries due to the high number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients and the amount of colleagues in isolation. Meanwhile, most of these colleagues returned to work.

CMC restarts with caution seeing that the pressure continues on the Intensive Care unit with ten COVID-19 patients including those that no longer test positive but require a prolonged stay due to their delicate situation.

CMC also made the decision to go back to the normal daily visiting hours from 11am to 1 pm and from 5pm – 7pm.  Only two visitors are allowed per patient, keeping in mind that everyone must wear a facemask and cannot visit the hospital with any COVID-19 symptoms.
