Willemstad, February 15th, 2023 February 15th is International Childhood Cancer day. This year, we pay tribute to the families and caregivers for the positive impact they have on the lives of our children and adolescents with cancer. Increasing the chance of survival of a child with cancer is a joint effort. From the Specialists at Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) that detect the cancer and guide the children and their parents through the medical process, to the supporting moral and emotional efforts for the children and their entire family from Ronald McDonald House of Charities (RMHC) and Stichting Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds (SPWF).
Every February 15, a collaborative campaign takes place to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, the survivors and their families. This year CMC went live on its Facebook page with enlightening talks with specialists, a survivor and the organizations that lend support, RMHC and SPWF. The video interviews will remain on the Facebook page for viewing.
In the afternoon, RMHC and SPWF invited Cancer patients and survivors to a fun afternoon in the RMHC family room in CMC. In collaboration with the Children’s Museum Curaçao with their “Museum on the Go” program, a fun afternoon was organized for our local families, where they could come together, exchange experiences and also celebrate life.
