Willemstad August 31st, 2023 – Curacao Medical Center (CMC) reaffirms its commitment to patient care
through its robust training and development initiatives. With a dedicated training and development
department, CMC has taken significant strides to ensure continuous education for its employees, ultimately
leading to improved quality of care.
CMC’s comprehensive approach encompasses not only general training for the entire staff but also
specialized certifications for nursing departments, aligning with the stringent standards of the Joint
Commission International (JCI) and Health Inspection regulations. Notable departments, including
Neonatal Intensive Care, Dialysis, Critical Care Unit, and Intensive Care, and Emergency have seen
approximately 160 nurses undergo specialized certification.
Since the initiation of certification processes in 2019, CMC’s endeavors faced a temporary pause amid the
Covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the hospital remains steadfast in its goal to have all nurses within these
departments certified, a commitment that underscores its dedication to maintaining the highest standards
of patient care. Currently almost 100% of these nurses have been certified with exception of a few that still
need to start their process.
Collaborating with institutions such as IFE and Medical Universities in the Netherlands, CMC’s training
efforts emphasize collective growth and the acquisition of advanced skills. This advancement in nursing
qualifications is largely attributed to the unrelenting efforts of CMC’s Training and Development
department and the unwavering dedication of its employees.
