Willemstad, August 25th, 2023 – In a remarkable display of unity and shared purpose, the Tranquility Space at Curaçao Medical Center played host to the “Beautiful Conversations” workshop on August 23th, 2023. This enlightening event provided a much-needed platform for colleagues from the Pediatric department and the Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) department to engage in candid discussions about their experiences and thoughts concerning Family Centered Care. This invaluable initiative was made possible through the tireless efforts of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), who initiated and fully coordinated the “Beautiful Conversations” workshop. RMHC has long been at the forefront of supporting families in need and facilitating dialogue within the medical community to enhance the quality of care provided.
Family centered care is a filosophy that gained increased recognition in pediatric healthcare, emphasizing the importance of involving families in the care and decision-making process for patients, particularly children and expectant mothers. The “Beautiful Conversations” workshop sought to explore this concept on a personal level and unearth the beautiful stories, moments, and innovative ideas that revolve around it.
Colleagues gathered to share their heartfelt personal experiences, highlighting the moments that have touched their hearts in their roles as caregivers. These touching narratives not only revealed the dedication and compassion of the medical staff but also underscored the transformative impact that Family Centered Care can have on patients and their loved ones. One of the key takeaways from the session was the importance of giving while also nurturing oneself.
