Willemstad, July 24, 2025 – Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) continues to proactively address workload and staffing dynamics across multiple departments, including Short Stay, where concerns about working conditions were raised today. Over recent years, this department has undergone several operational transitions—from navigating the demands of the pandemic to implementing structural changes. The pressure further intensified today due to staff on sick leave and other personnel-related challenges.
Structural improvements, including a more flexible staffing model are in process of being applied to support both staff resilience and continuity of patient care, particularly in departments like Short Stay. Efforts are part of an ongoing, data-driven strategy, with the need of regular monitoring and adjustments to ensure sustainable improvements. CMC views staff well-being and patient safety as interconnected priorities.
CMC maintains open dialogue with staff and their representatives, while reinforcing the importance of following internal protocols. Continuity of care remains a central focus, alongside a respectful and collaborative work environment.
