CMC partners with RMHC to Create Play Area for Children in Healing Garden

WILLEMSTAD, November 21, 2024 – Curaçao Medical Center (CMC), in collaboration with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Foundation Curaçao, is proud to announce the creation of a dedicated play area for hospitalized children within CMC’s Healing Garden. This initiative aims to provide a space where children can engage in play and recreation, fostering a sense of joy and normalcy during their hospital stay.

This milestone project has been in the planning stages for some time, CMC is now ready to move forward with a design that takes all hospital guidelines into account. Implementation of the Children’s Phase is set to begin in the first quarter of 2025, thanks to the generosity of Gerd Glaudemans and a significant contribution from Osvaldo Marchena (Oz), Dream Rides 2022 and others.

The first phase focuses on creating a vibrant, child-friendly play area tailored to the needs of young patients. Subsequent phases will enhance the broader Healing Garden, transforming it into a tranquil oasis designed for recreation and relaxation for patients, their families, and CMC staff.

“We believe in the power of play as a vital component of healing for children,” said Claudia Rigaud, Director of RMHC Foundation Curaçao. “This collaboration with CMC underscores our shared commitment to improving the well-being of children and families in Curaçao.”

The Healing Garden, once completed, will not only offer children a place to explore and play but will also serve as a serene retreat for everyone at CMC. This project represents a meaningful investment in the community, aiming to uplift those that make use of it.
