Willemstad, December 21st, 2022 – Today, Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) received a visit from the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) from the Netherlands, Mr. Ernst Kuipers and the State Secretary Maarten van Ooijen, who is responsible for healthcare of patients from Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba (BES). They were joined by other Health Ministries’ representatives from the Netherlands, Bonaire and Curaçao.
This group received a hospital tour through the departments that are most frequently visited by BES patients coming to CMC for treatments including Dialysis, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Radiotherapy department and Ronald McDonald House of Charities (RMHC).
The tour was followed by a meeting with the Board of Directors of CMC where they discussed current topics such as the significant increase in number of Emergency patients in the past year. This was in addition to information on actions to improve quality of service that will result into a JCI accreditation in a few years. Other topics addressed included, CMC’s Financial Challenges and Dutch Caribbean Hospital Alliance (DCHA) initiatives for better collaboration between Dutch Caribbean hospitals.
